Seems to be a while since I posted anything, been a bit busy you see. Today I have to paint a portrait of my friend Mark Barnes, Britain’s 4th greatest illustrator and purveyor of Doom at it’s doomiest. I have to do this today because it’s going into this portrait exhibition organised by the extremely talented Marissa Mardon, who painted the picture in the flyer above. I’m helping with the hanging on Friday. Must paint today!
Some time soon I will let you know what else I’ve been up to of late, it’s pretty damn cool if you ask me…

Tuesday, 20th July, 2010Jerwood Contemporary Painters
Monday, 24th May, 2010Last week I went to see the Jerwood Contemporary Painters exhibition at the Jerwood Space. It was good. Please excuse the poor quality of the photos in the gallery below, just wanted to share my favs.
Anyway, these are emerging artists, so keep an eye out, they’ll be in other shows soon!
The Art of Conversation @ Idea Generation Gallery
Wednesday, 19th May, 2010
I’ve been in London today visiting lots and lots of galleries. My feet ache and my brain needs a nap so here’s a very quick blog in praise of The Art of Conversation exhibition, which is only open for a couple more days.
“From January to March 2010 the participants, 10 London based design studios and 10 Berlin based design studios, played a visual game of Chinese Whispers. Each participant was presented with a work/idea from the previous participant in the chain via a Skype chat, they then had 3 days to interpret it and forward their results to the next participant.”
The website has the skype conversations for you to watch, but sadly no pictures of the final pieces (unless I’m just too tired to find them). Still, viewing the conversations is great, partly because I’m nosy but officially because I’m fascinated by the creative process – seeing how these designers take one idea and transform it into another completely different but fundamentally linked one is marvelous. Generally, this show was pretty cool.

Unnecessary Stains on Silence and Nothingness
Tuesday, 18th May, 2010As I mentioned yesterday, I had an exhibition of my work a few weeks ago entitled Unnecessary Stains on Silence and Nothingness (a Beckett quote that seemed appropriate at the time). It went pretty well and I’m rather pleased with myself.
But don’t just take my word for it, here’s what the visitor book has to say…
“Lovely job, must badger you into doing more shows!” Mark
“What a Chuckle” Rusty
“Gloriously mental!” Nigel
“Impressed with your sewing, can you please take a pair of my jeans up” Anon.
Thanks guys!
Anyway, here’s what it looked like. If you click on a picture below you can see a slightly bigger version! Woohoo!
